PHILADELPHIA, June, 2020 – The COVID-19 pandemic has decimated the restaurant industry all across the country. A local family foundation worked closely with one2one to customize and fund the Philadelphia Restaurant Workers COVID-19 Relief Program, providing much-needed COVID-related hardship support to restaurant workers all over Philadelphia. one2one administered the grants, including a detailed review of the workers’ applications and dissemination of the funds for payment of personal, family, or living expenses incurred as a result of the pandemic.

As of June 30, 2020, one2one had distributed $184,500 of grants to 320 individual recipients.  “I want to express my sincerest thank you for this grant to the donors, and the one2one USA team. We are all trying to adjust and make the best of these uncertain times. Many days I do not know what to do, am unsure of myself and what the future holds. However, the gesture of kindness through this grant has given me hope to continue and look forward to better days to come. I am optimistic we will all again be circled around a table sharing a great meal and conversation soon. Thank you for your generosity and support.”

Providing just $500 or $1000 to people during this uncertain time has been invaluable, and has given many of these restaurant workers some hope in a dark time.  This exemplifies one of the tenets of one2one, that a relatively small amount can change someone’s life. A Board Member from the donor family foundation said, “thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all of the hard work you’ve put into this initiative. I am beyond ecstatic that we were able to execute the fund, and to help people badly in need. I will forever be highly appreciative of the one2one team for making this a success!”
